On January 24th, 2014, U-Beyond formally Mentorship Atlanta, celebrated Mentorship Month in the US with having its annual event.
Mr. Moe Mustafa, Chairman of U-Beyond formally Mentorship Atlanta welcomed guests and thanked the mentors and mentees for their engagement and support throughout the year. Two of U-Beyond mentees, Mr. Shams Khaldi and Ms, Noor Elsaqa; MCs for the evening, in turn introduced Dr. Lattouf, professor of surgery at Emory University who extended a warm welcome to the attendees and introduced keynote speaker Dr. Fadlo Khuri, Professor and Chair of Hematology and Oncology at Emory, and a world renowned scientist, educator, researcher, and innovator in the area of cancer treatment. Dr. Khuri shared with the audience his journey and covered the importance of Mentorship in young people's lives and how it helped him personally with achieving his goals.
Mr Hammad Aslam followed Dr. Khuri as our Guest of Honor and shared with the audience his experience and how young people could overcome obstacles like he did after an accident that left him paralyzed. Undeterred, and with great determination, he is graduating from Medical School in May of 2014. Mr. Mustafa and Dr Lattouf presented certificates of recognition to our annual Ibn Sina award winners. Mr. Hammad Aslam was presented with Achievement Excellence Award for his extraordinary achievement in becoming a medical doctor in spite of his physical handicap.

Ms. Sharmin Dharas introduced our discussion panel which included panelists from various fields of interest:
There were 7 other honorable mention winners who were recognized for their Achievement Excellence and Community Service. These were Hassan Fakhoury, Mae Dahshouri, Sarah Ghelani, Girl Scout of RCM, Dr.Heval Kelli, Dr. Fahed Abu Akel, and OPEN Atlanta.
The meeting adjourned to the Symphony Hall where our attendees were served with a magical musical performance by the National Arab Orchestra. The NAO was launched as a national orchestra with the vision of building bridges between cultures through music.
